A strong, positive self-image is the best possible preparation for success. – Joyce Brothers

What is your outlook in life? Mainly positive? Or generally negative?

Assuming you got retrenched at work. Or you failed in your exam. Or you lost your money in the stocks market.

Do you self-blame? Do you blame others? Do you drown yourself in sorrow?

Or do you think about corrective action? Do you choose plan B? Do you do things differently, to try new things?

Your point of view doesn’t change the reality, whether you are being positive or negative.

It affects how you cope with life. If you are positive, it helps in how you are coping with the challenges in life. If you are negative, it only makes things harder.

Success in life is based on good judgment. And good judgment comes from experience. And experience is the result of bad judgment. Don’t be afraid. Just follow through on what your heart desires.

Excuses to Success

Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change.  – Stephen Hawking

Many people dream of success. And yet, there are just so many people who didn’t achieve it.

When probed, there are “reasons” for not achieving success. Are they really “reasons”? Or are they merely excuses?

Let’s see what are the common excuses for not chasing after our dreams. And more importantly, how can we overcome it?

Excuse #1 : I have no time.
Like, seriously? Of course, there is no denying that there are people who work two shifts to make ends meet. These are the kind of people whose rest time is their 4 hours sleep. I understand their plight.

But for the rest of us, do we really don’t have the time? If we would watch less a couple of streaming movies, that would free up  a couple of hours a day.

It is just a matter of prioritization. What is more important? Your current joy or the fruits of your effort?

Excuse #2 : I have no money.
There are people who are poor. And then, there are people who spends indiscriminately. You have the money , all along. It depends on how you spend it. Do you spend it on  buying the things that you want (but don’t need)? Or do you spend it on the things that will help you achieve your dreams faster?

There is also a misconception here. You don’t really need a lot of money to achieve success. All you need is to learn how to make do with what you have. When money is a concern, you need to think creatively. How can you leverage on your time and effort to make up for the lack of money?

Excuse #3 : I don’t have the luck.
Don’t aim for the lucky break. Lottery winners are far and away. And even if they win, their winnings don’t last.

Make your own luck. Chase after each and every one of the opportunities. Always be on the learning. Luck is when opportunity meets preparedness.

Excuse #4 : I don’t have the connections.
To have success, you need to know the correct people. People who can make the wheel go round. We are not living in an island. We need each other’s help.

How then do we increase our connection? Always be the helpful one. Develop a habit of helping others. People like people who are helpful and kind. This is a characteristics that draw people to you.

Always seek out new friends. Go out to social gathering and make it a point to know at least two people at each event. Seek out where successful people would gather, and attend the events whenever possible.

These excuses are merely excuses. They hold no power on us, unless we let them to. Don’t give in. Make it a stand, your stand, to say – today is my day. I shall not give any excuses. I shall do my part. I shall work hard for my success.

What would you do? What is your excuse today? And more importantly, how do you resolve on your excuse?

Lukas Graham 7 Years

I learned the value of hard work by working hard. – Margaret Mead

Kept on hearing Lukas Graham’s 7 Years on radio. It was catchy and pleasant to the ears. At least, to my ears.

There’s something about the lyrics that we can learn.

It was a big big world, but we thought we were bigger
Pushing each other to the limits, we were learning quicker

We have to believe in ourselves. Believe in our ability, to learn and to perform. Believe that we are bigger than the problems that we are facing.

Success lies outside of our comfort zone. The more we push, the faster we learn. And it is not an individual journey. We push each other. We push our friends, those who share the same dreams as us. The journey to success is not meant to be climbed by yourself, all alone.

I only see my goals, I don’t believe in failure
Cause I know the smallest voices, they can make it major

We have to be goal oriented. Focused on the things that we want to achieve. There is no way but up. There is no other way but success. Give yourself no room for excuse. Give yourself no excuse for failure.

We should be biased. Biased towards optimism. We have to keep our negativity and self-criticism in check. Once we leave them out, it would unleash a downward-spiral that would be out of control.

Success lies within you. Believe in yourself and keep working on it. Believe in yourself, believe in your ability to figure things out, believe in seeing the rainbow after the rain. Keep working, keep pushing. And keep your like-minded friends with you, by your side, to encourage one another to the end goal.

What is the price of your success?

Success is simple. Do what’s right, the right way, at the right time.  -Arnold H. Glasow

What is the price of your success?

There are sacrifices that need to be taken. There are changes in life that you need to make. There are changes in mindset that you need to adopt.

But really, what is the price of your success?

Time. There is no overnight success. We marvel at an overnight sensation, someone who made it at American Idol or The Voice, not knowing the time they put in to perfect their crafts. We seem to forget there is such a rule called 10,000 hours to mastery.

Energy. You need to put in the effort to do it. Success comes from freaking hard work. And it comes from you being persistent, doing the same boring routine day in and day out. It’s about you doing the right thing regardless of the seasons of the year.

Learning. To succeed, you need to keep on learning. The world is forever changing. What works yesterday may not work today. And it will definitely won’t work tomorrow. Someone, somewhere, would come up with a brand new innovation. A better way to do things. A faster and cheaper alternative. A disruptive technology. A whole new world. To stay ahead, we have to keep abreast.

Social. When you put in time and energy in pursuing your dream, there’s no time left for mindless social gathering. Your non-empowering friends would start to desert you, or worse, bring you down, for you are becoming different from them. Someone whom they longed to be, and yet didn’t have the courage  and persistence to pursue it.

Success is a long and tiring road. At times, you may to give up. But think back. Think back on the reasons why are you pursuing it in the first place.

It is a lonely journey going up. It is a long journey going up. But trust me, when all is said and done, it will worth every single effort and time you have put in.

What is the price you have paid to achieve the success you are having at this moment of time? What else could you do for future success?

Success Network

Back when I was a teenager, I thought that with the right bunch of people anything was possible. – Richard Branson

No one is an island. No one can achieve success all by himself.

There is no self-made millionaire. Yes, he may have done all the hard work, persist and determined to see success to the end. But how would he achieve such success if no one buys his product, no one executes his strategy, and no one supports him emotionally?

“It was the people I surrounded myself with who made the difference: If you treat your employees right, they will treat your customers right, and sustained profits will follow”, said Richard Branson.

How do you surround yourself with the right people?

Be the right people. Like attract like. Be the person you wish to see in the other people. People are generally be drawn to positive, driven people. No one like snobbish people.

But being positive alone won’t work if you just stay locked inside your house whole day. Go out. Mingle with people. Go for networking session. You need to reach out to others, putting yourself in front of other like-minded persons. Attend seminars and workshops.

Empower the people. Each and everyone has their own capabilities and creative thinking. Let them shape the future, and drive the success. You may guide the general strategy. Let them execute your directions as to which seem best fit. Empowerment is one of the best ways to bring forth the best of people.

Always surround yourself with the right people. People who would raise your standards. People who would push you to higher ground. People who would support your dreams.

Go out and meet new friends today. Strangers are friends whom you have yet met.

Amazing Story of Keanu Reeves

There was never a night or a problem that could defeat sunrise or hope. – Bernard Williams

Keanu Reeves is one of the most inspiring Hollywood actors.

Like other successful people, he had a disadvantage start in his life. Yet, he never let it becomes an excuse for him to blame the government, to blame his parent, to blame his school. Instead he works hard at it. He has the grit to win and the persistence to stay on, just a little bit longer, until he has success.

Life may be unfair to him. Tragedies after tragedies fall upon him. He has the options to feel bitter and shun himself from the world. Instead, he carries on with his life, achieving wonder and inspiring others.

He is down to earth. He is not flashy with his wealth. He is generous with his money and time. He respects others and knows what it means to be courteous to one and all.

Let his actions inspire us to achieve greatness in our lives, while keeping in tact the goodness within us.

Have a great TGIF and strive to excellence!

Why Successful People Spend 10 Hours a Week Just Thinking

Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.- Abraham Lincoln

It is ironic, isn’t it? It contradicts itself.

In any case, read up on the article by Inc and see how you can benefit from the simple steps it has listed down there.

Wishing you success in living a grander life.

Successful People

I’d like to think you don’t stop being creative once you get happy. My ultimate goal is to end up being happy. Most of the time. – Taylor Swift

Do you believe the successful people are smart people?

Those with high IQ?

If that is the case, PhD graduates are all successful.

But time and again have proven this to be false.

There are many successful people who are dropouts. Those who didn’t even finish their primary school education.

Why? Why is that so?

IQ is not a measure of success. Instead it is about grit. You need to persist.

You have to stay longer in the competition. You need to stand up tall after falling down.

Get up on your feet if life knock you down. All without the loss of enthusiasm.

Education is not a measure of success. Instead, it all depends on how strong is your willpower to win.

Focus on the right thing. It is not the end of the world if you do not score a high point in IQ tests. Stay strong!
