You may have heard of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. There’s another day you might want to know about: Giving Tuesday. The idea is pretty straightforward. On the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, shoppers take a break from their gift-buying, and donate what they can to charity. – Bill Gates
A scroll at my Facebook feeds, and I saw my friend checked into an old folks home. And a conversation follows.
Me: Terence, you went to old folks home?
Terence: Yes. Buying things from my company to donate to them.
Me: Wow, that sounds good.
Terence: Get your friends to help too. Because how much can one person donate? Can get friends together to donate more money. Then with the money, can buy diapers and milk for the needy.
Me: That’s true.
Terence: One person donate money is not a big amount. But any amount is also good. So usually, we get a few people together then donate a few diapers or milk. But as I said, no amount is too small for donation.
Me: Yup.
Terence: Besides, I am also showing to my kids that they have to give back to society….
Me: And to pay it forward too.
Terence: Yes.
It’s the season of givings. Rally your friends. Each person has the desires to do good.
Don’t deprive them of the opportunity to give back to society. Everyone should have the chance to give.
No amount is small for donations. It is not the amount that matter, it is the thoughts that count. Give generously and give what you are comfortable with.
1-Dec was #GivingTuesday. Even if we have missed the opportunity then, that doesn’t prevent us to give now. Find your local charitable causes that you are passionate of, and start donating today.
You will feel much, much better.
