Ask or your answer will always be no

If you want something said, ask a man. If you want something done, ask a woman. – Margaret Thatcher

It is that simple, no?

If you do not ask, the answers will always be no.

If you don’t ask for a raise, you won’t get one.
If you don’t ask the girl out for a date, you won’t have one.
If you don’t ask for help, you won’t get one.

If that is so simple, then why? Why don’t people ask more?

Ego. Ego does stand in the way.

We fear of being rejected.
We fear of being being said no to.

But it doesn’t have to be so. How do we move one step further?

Realize that it is NOT the end of the world, if we ever get a no for an answer. Life still goes on. Tomorrow will still come. And you may not remember it for long.

If we get a no, think.

Why do they say no?
Wrong choice of time?
Wrong approach that we took?
Or the person simply says no to anything and everything?

It’s about learning from experience and doing better next time around.

It does hurt our ego if we are consistently being rejected. It hurts our self-worth. Therefore, we should ask for simpler favors first. Those that people would most probably say yes. Keep a logbook to document all the achievement that we have  – both big and small.

What are the things that you are afraid to ask? What really stopping you? What have you been missing out because you didn’t ask? And what could you do to help yourself to ask that question?
